1st THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL WORKSHOP MAXILLARY SINUS SURGERY AND TRANS-MAXILLARY WINDOW

Welcome to the first edition of the Rhinoedu THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL WORKSHOP ON MAXILLARY SINUS SURGERY. RhinoEdu is a scientific group founded in 2023 in Como, dedicated

to promoting basic sciences, anatomical research, and the dissemination of surgical skills in endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses, skull base, and orbit. This initiative is supported

by a solid international network of experts in the field. The group is also supported by national scientific societies dedicated to the treatment of paranasal sinus and skull base diseases: the Italian Rhinologic Academy and the Italian Skull Base Society.

Maxillary sinus surgery has evolved rapidly in recent years, particularly with a focus on endoscopic- assisted approaches, such as medial and radical endoscopic-assisted maxillectomies.

The aim of this course is to share knowledge and experience in maxillary sinus surgery and trans- maxillary approaches, to refine surgical skills and focus on the pros and cons of each procedure.

The course is structured to present modular endoscopic approaches to the maxillary sinus, increasing in complexity, starting from endonasal approaches to more invasive ones such as radical maxillectomy. During this “surgical journey,” the main reconstructive techniques for the maxillary sinus will also be presented: from repairing oroantral fistulas, a common complication in ENT clinical practice, to free flap reconstruction techniques after extensive surgical demolitions.

Last but not least, we hope the enchanting setting of Lake Como and the networking opportunities with colleagues different countries will provide an inspiring backdrop for this educational experience.

We look forward to meeting you in Como!
